  			remove logger -s "CBSC16 removed"
Misc Info :
The display controller chip is Trident Cyber 9525 DVD, which requires
  XFree86 4.0 to run X Window System. I've installed XFree86-Server-4.0
and XFree86-clients-4.0 packages from BSDi 3.5.1-RELEASE CD-ROM set,
and configured with HorizSync of 31.5-37.9 MHz and VertRefresh of
  50-70 Hz.

Laneed LD-10/100CD only runs in 10BaseT mode even with 100BaseTX hub,
  as others report.

The SCSI PC-Card used by PIONEER PCP-PR24W CD-ROM Drive seems to be
an OEM of IO DATA PCSC-F (its device driver for Windows is named as
"PCSC-F UltraSMIT PCMCIA SCSI Card for DOS/V"), which can be handled by
  "nsp" device driver.

The SCSI PC-Card accompanied with MOF-1300/CBSC is CBSC-II. It has two
operating modes: CardBus mode and 16-bit mode. There is a switch on the
side of the card to select the mode, and it must be set to 16-bit mode
  for use in FreeBSD.

The built-in modem is a WinModem, and will not work.

  All devices get inactive except fdc0, ncv0, wdc0, sc0,

a SCSI device in a short time.

IRQ5 should be excluded in the PAO-980913 installation

Misc Info :
  * If you used Win98 or reset BIOS setups prior to FreeBSD boot, make sure
you COLD-START (shutdown and turn on the power, not reboot) or PC card will
not be probed properly (This symptom was present in DOS).
  * With the machine cold-started, boot-pao installation was fine. I first
made FreeBSD partition with FIPS 1.5 and chose NFS installation.
  * CE-CD01 is supposed to work as ATA card but the driver fails to configure
  wdc1. Hmm....
  * options above are required to use track pad correctly.
  * For XF86, NeoLogic Driver is available at
  http://www-cv.mech.eng.osaka-u.ac.jp/~okada/FreeBSD/NeoMagic/NeoMagic.html
(Thank you, Mr. Okada!). Make sure you config your kernel with options
  above.

  =====
  1. PCMCIA Modem works well.
  2. but CD-ROM Drive doesn't work, because pccard daemon doesn't probe CDROM card.
When I insert cdrom card, it issues following message.
Sometimes it issues "Probe failed" immediately before Attach Failed.
And then, sometimes it issues same message twice.

    - CEM56 dose not work as Ethernet card.

It works good as modem over 28.8k speed.
But sio driver sometimes hung with "over flow" message.

So, to use ppp without overflow, I wrote ppp.conf follow:

          set speed 230400

    - SUSPEND/RESUME problem

After suspend/resume, kernel warns "calcru: negative time -XXXX".
If it has happened, machine may un-stable.
It seems a bug of CPU clock get routine in apm_default_resume() of apm.c.

I add follow code for apm.c.

When installing, you should choose "start kernel configuration..."

for killing the conflicted devices and plobing the SCSI CD-ROM.

  Executing apm command makes panic.
But can suspend with suspend button(not apm -z).
Cannot power off with shutdown -x.
Sound device was set with BIOS to use I/O address to 0x220-, irq to 9,

      Xircom CreditCard Modem CM-56
I tried changing the card line in conf to match
my modem, and tried it the original way.
I left everything else alone. User PPP accessed the
modem without complaint, there was no dial tone, the
lights on the modem cable dongle did not light up and
      User PPP reported: dial failed
Misc Info :
I was very encouraged to see an entry in the
pccard.conf.sample for a Xircom Modem, but could not get it to
work. I am about to give up and get myself another modem for the
laptop. Any advice would be welcome.
  Thank you.

Misc Info :
suspend/resume and hybernation/resume is OK when 3Com PCCARD is
set. There is small problem for suspend/hybernation when TDK PCCARD is
set. It is that the machine freeze 45 to 50 seconds after
suspend/hybernation, but after that it successfully suspend/hybernate.
However, if someone resumes, it suddenly begins hybernation again. And
next resume will success. But sometimes PCCARD is not recognized at
the 2nd resume. If you unset and set it, then it is recognized.

And as other information, I tried a BIOS confuguration that power off
PCCARD between suspend, and that also seems to be OK. XFree86 worked
at VGA resolution with Chipset NeoMagic configuration. Acceralated X
also worked at 800x600 and color depth 16. The hardware hot keys, "Fn"
+ ”F1-F10" also worked under FreeBSD and it can control display,
speaker, low electricity mode, hybernation, battery left, etc.

Misc Info :
  1. The 50% card success rate is disturbing. The same cards fail under win95,
so I am inclined to blame it on hardware.

  2. I have gotten the sound to work (it is a CS4232), but it's an ugly
  hack.

Misc Info :
PAO-ready boot floppy failed to initialize PC Card driver. With ordinary boot
flopy 3C589C can be used as zp0, so I installed FreeBSD using zp0 then
installed PAO. But, without following patch PC Card controller was not
  initialized.
zzz(8) fails when pccard is plugged in.

Misc Info :
I installed FreeBSD over the internet (ftp passive to ftp.freebsd.org)
using my 3Com 3c589b PCCard. Using the PCCard default IRQ options
("10,11", if I recall correctly, but I could be wrong), the machine hung
after downloading about 100k of the first distribution set. I tried this
a few times, and it once got up to around 300k before hanging. In order
to get the 3Com card working, I needed to take the "5,11" (non-default)
choice for IRQ at PCCard config screen during installation. With this
change, the install when flawlessly (and it was FAST!).

I also needed to change this in /etc/pccard.conf. A couple days later I
replaced the 3Com card with a LinkSys Combo EthernetCard (PCCard). I
didn't change the IRQs, so it's still running nicely with the "5,11" IRQ
  setting in /etc/pccard.conf.
